The winner of the Eqvalan Duo Equine Thesis of the Year Award has been revealed by the Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE).
Judges have selected Holly Claridge''s thesis concerning the articular process joint, which the Royal Veterinary College graduate believes has not been assessed in much depth before.
Meanwhile, Ann Clausen''s thesis relating to Futurity evaluations from the British Equine Federation received second prize in the RASE contest.
Competition judge Dr Emma Batson from Merial Animal Health - one of the award scheme''s sponsors - has emphasised the strong standard of entrants in this year''s competition.
She commented: "All the finalists were outstanding, and certainly good enough to have won in previous years, but the judges were unanimous that Holly''s contribution had the edge."
Meanwhile, RASE has also confirmed that its Festival of the Horse event will be held in July 2010 at Warwickshire''s Stoneleigh Park.
