Ministers recently unveiled a number of sustainable plans in their Warm Homes, Greener Homes Strategy, which relate to both homeowners and those living in rented accommodation.
The NLA''s policy manager Chris Norris has suggested that he would like to see the initiative make a positive environmental difference.
He stated: "It is hoped these measures will remove some of the barriers to making all accommodation less damaging to the environment."
Nevertheless, Mr Norris did go on to say that more effort may be required to improve the sustainability of houses in the private sector as they are often quite old buildings.
As part of its energy efficiency plans, the government is aiming to see six million homes given insulation before 2011 comes to a close.
