A new research project is to focus on potential enhancements that could made to the Gift Aid system in the near future.
Backed by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), ResPublica will be tasked with assessing how technological innovations might be able to improve the effectiveness of Gift Aid, with the organisation set to make its conclusions public later in the year.
Technological solutions could help to modernise the present Gift Aid system that is in place, the CAF's chief executive John Low believes.
"Since the original Gift Aid consultation in 2007, charities have been calling for simplification of the process of claiming this tax relief," he commented.
Representatives from the not-for-profit sector will be consulted in the new study, along with those working within the government.
Meanwhile, the CAF has also recently confirmed that it is to make social networking guidance available to charities through the launch of a new training course later in 2010.
