We are already seeing  necessary reinvention of business and employment structures in response to the huge wage of technological change. But how can we create a step change in innovation and growth for the economy, alongside equally dramatic progress for the quality of working lives and wellbeing?

Taylor Vinters’ Zebra Project, launching on 18 January 2018, will provide a platform for this urgently required, future-focused discussion, helping business leaders to identify the real game changing shifts and design for success, innovation and fairness.

Matthew Taylor, CEO of the RSA, and the event’s Chair, will launch the Zebra Project with a keynote speech arguing that business leaders need to focus on a set of interlinked issues if their businesses are to flourish in the future. In this sense, innovation and growth have a systemic quality, and Matthew will argue that business leaders who focus too narrowly on one set of challenges are likely to be blinded-sided by future change. For example, growth opportunities will be lost if businesses do not innovate as quickly in their employment and engagement models as they already are with technology.

Matthew will identify the leadership challenges in creating a genuine climate of innovation. For example:

  • How do we amplify the capacity of the economy in terms of skills and investment?
  • How do we deal with threats from cyber security to declining consumer confidence in data integrity as the internet becomes more activity regulated?
  • How do we resolve the tensions between regulatory compliance and innovation?
  • How can we prompt a productivity revolution in social care as well as in manufacturing?

An expert panel will then respond to Matthew’s comments, offering their views on how to tackle these challenges. How can we all shape and support business, people, culture and processes to drive a more innovative economy and sustainable strategies?

Taylor Vinters’ Zebra Project will stage a year-long programme of discussions designed to drill down into these game changing shifts. Expert and peer-to-peer discussions will be at the heart of sessions ranging from ‘A new era of ethical governance to ‘Equipping and Engaging Workforces.’ These discussions, and resulting practical insights, will help frame the essential ‘to do list’ that leadership teams will need to focus on to succeed in the next five years.
