Gayle is a Partner in the Commercial and Technology groups within Mishcon Future and a member of the Life Sciences Group, leading on digital health.

She has over 25 years' experience of finding commercial legal solutions for businesses of all sizes, helping them achieve their growth plans through innovative collaborations, protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights, grant funding agreements and trading terms and conditions with customers and suppliers, including universities and the NHS.

Gayle also co-leads our Mishcon GC service and through that service delivers commercial legal advice to a variety of health and tech, life sciences and digital marketing clients, some of whom have no in-house legal function and some of whom have an in-house function that needs additional support. 

Gayle has held non-executive directorships in the healthcare and legal sectors.  She delivers training to various clients and health sector groups on topics such as collaborations and joint ventures, pilot licensing projects and working with NHS customers. She chairs Femtech discussions with clients and recently chaired an Oxford event at the University's Divinity School on achieving quality boards through social mobility.

She is highly recommended by clients and peers and named as a leading healthcare lawyer in legal services directories.

Key Experience

  • Gayle acts as virtual general counsel to a number of key clients. She really enjoys helping clients shape and implement their strategies and working as part of their teams. She has enjoyed several long term secondments, including to BP PLC, RAC PLC and the Department of Health.
  •  A large national charity conducting its first spin-out activity, advising on typical spin-out licence terms, preparing the template licence.
  • A Cambridge University social sciences spin-out company, advising it on commercial strategy and the terms of its IP licence from Cambridge University, negotiating the licence.
  • Oxford University spin out companies in the life sciences, social sciences and engineering sectors, advising on strategy to commercialise IP and negotiating IP licences.
  • An international genomics company in relation to their customer contracts and licenses and collaboration agreements internationally, drafting and negotiating the contracts.
  •  A cancer treatment device company in relation to its international distributorship arrangements, including assessing its existing arrangements and transitioning to new arrangements and drafting the business transfer documents.
  • A digital communications health business whose main customer is the NHS, advising on licence terms, NHS G Cloud framework agreements, call off contracts, data privacy issues, collaboration contracts, collaborative R&D arrangements and ownership of IP.
  • A range of women's digital health/Femtech companies involved in delivering solutions including contraception advice and treatment, menopause advice and treatment and fertility services to consumers of healthcare.
  • An influencer marketing business, advising on customer and agency contracts.
