Razia Begum is a Managing Associate in the Employment department.

Razia has experience on a wide range of UK employment law issues, both contentious and non-contentious advising mainly businesses. She specialises in international employment law and employment-related privacy and data protection issues, particularly advising innovative and scaling clients in the emerging tech and life sciences sectors.

Her client work consists of supporting the growth of clients internationally as well as providing solutions for discrete, day-to-day UK or cross-border matters, or strategic support throughout a complex, multi-jurisdictional HR project.

Razia also supports businesses achieve and maintain GDPR compliance with their HR/employment systems, processes, and documentation.

Key Experience

  • General UK advisory work involves employee exits/settlement packages, disciplinary and grievance issues, redundancies, temporary workers and agency workers (UK and international).
  • Advising on the employment aspects of multi-jurisdictional corporate transactions, including share and asset sales, corporate restructurings and outsourcing.
  • International support for fast growth companies looking to scale and engage talent in the UK or outside of the UK and/or are considering allowing remote working abroad.
  • Advising on global employment related documentation (such as global handbooks, policies, guidelines).
  • Advising on complex international exits (such as in the USA) and managing international litigation/mediation (for example, in Canada).
  • Advising on employment-related privacy and data protection issues (including on data subject access requests, employee monitoring, data policies and documentation).
